From Monticchiello you can easily reach Valdorcia and progress up to Mount Amiata and the Rocca Aldobrandesca in Castiglion d’Orcia. Besides relaxing, in the tranquillity of small restaurants of the village you can find the best typical products of the valley (olive-oil, cheeses and wines). In summer you can see the plays of “Teatro Povero”, which are world-famous for being written and perfomed by Monticchiello inhabitants.

Pienza, the Renaissance town that pope Pious II wanted to rebuild, is also very close. The thermal baths of Bagno Vignoni are another fascinating visit. The nearby town of Montalcino is paticularly well-known for its wine, the “Brunello”. San Quirico is worth a visit for its Collegiata Church. The woods of Amiata. Montepulciano, “pearl” of Cinquecento is famous for its “Nobile” wine and recently has been chosen as a natural “film set” for the second chapther of Twilight Saga, New Moon. Chiusi, with its National Etruscan Museum offers a different point of view..
